Healthy snacks for school

The start of school is obviously an important time for children, but also for parents. Every mother wants her child to get a good energy boost in the form of vitamins and essential nutrients at school lunch. However, school snack ideas often run out quickly, and we usually just pack sandwiches, a roll, or an apple for the children, while the children "finish" in the meantime by choosing chocolate bars or chips from the school shop. As you know, this is not a good choice, especially since second breakfast not only serves to satisfy hunger but also provides energy and supports development. What children eat affects their minds, concentration, and the quality of learning. So, what can be done to prepare children for school so that snacks don't become monotonous and the child is provided with the right dose of healthy nutrients? Here are some tried-and-tested suggestions:

Vegetable pancakes

– Zucchini 1 pc.

– Carrot 1 pc.

– Onion 1 pc.

- Milk 3 tablespoons,

– Wheat flour 2-3 tablespoons,

– Egg 1 pc.

- Pinch of salt,

- frying oil,

– Parsley 1 bunch.


Grate the washed carrots and zucchini on a coarse grater, finely chop the onion and parsley. Add the flour, egg, salt, and milk to the vegetables and mix. Fry the pancakes in a hot pan with a little oil, and you're done. In addition to pancakes, it's worth adding carrot sticks to your breakfast box for snacking.

Sweet millet pancakes with sheep

– cooked millet 2 cups

– Milk – 500 ml (2 glasses)

– Apple 1 pc.

– Egg 1 pc.

Wheat , corn or rice flour 4 tbsp

– Honey 2-4 tbsp

- Pinch of salt

- frying oil

Combine the grated apple, millet, and other ingredients in a bowl and mix. If the resulting mixture is too runny, you can add flour; if it's too thick, add a little water. Form fairly thick pancakes and fry them in a pan until golden brown. We add a handful of raspberries, blueberries, or a banana to the breakfast box.

Oatmeal cookies

– Oat flakes 2 cups

Dried fruits 1 cup (can be raisins, cranberries, chopped dates)

– Bananas 2-3 pieces

– Cow or plant milk 0.5 cups

All ingredients simply need to be blended in a blender. Spoon the prepared mixture onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and form cookies. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 15 minutes, then turn the cookies over and bake for another 5 minutes. In addition to oatmeal cookies, it's worth adding dried fruit or your favorite nuts to your breakfast box.

Pizza-style muffins

– Wheat flour 1.5 cups

– Eggs 2 pcs.

– Olive oil ¼ cup

- Milk 1 cup

- yellow cheese 1 cup

- a few olives

– ¼ pepper

- Basil

- Oregano

- sweet pepper

– Baking powder 1 tsp

In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and grated cheese. In another bowl, mix the milk, oil, and eggs. Once mixed, pour the liquid ingredients into the flour, baking powder, and cheese and mix everything with a mixer. Finely chop the olives and bell peppers and add to the batter. Season the mixture with basil, oregano, and paprika. Fill the batter about ¾ full into the molds and bake for about 20 minutes at 190 degrees with fan-assisted heating. Add the chopped bell peppers next to the muffins in the breakfast box.

These are just a few suggestions. Traditional sandwiches can also be a good solution, but make sure they're colorful and contain vegetables. Whole-grain bread is best. Instead of a bar, add a handful of nuts to breakfast, which are good for memory and concentration. You can also replace the bread with fruit muffins or pancakes. Breakfast is a very important meal of the day. Without it, children can become distracted, sleepy, and unfocused. After a few classes, students need a boost of energy. Therefore, the snacks we prepare for school should be healthy.
