Coconut Oil: Refined or Unrefined?
Coconut oil is one of the healthiest vegetable fats. It's becoming increasingly popular among consumers and is becoming more readily available. We can use it both for consumption and for application to the skin. There are two types: cold-pressed and refined. Which is best?
The oils differ in their production method. Unrefined ("virgin") oil is extracted through mechanical processes "cold," meaning, without the application of high temperatures. Because of this natural (and less efficient) extraction method, unrefined oil is more expensive than refined oil. It has the appearance of white butter or lard. Refined oil is produced by heat using chemicals. During refining, tocopherols, sterols, and polyphenolic compounds are partially removed.
Benefits of refined and unrefined coconut oil
Refined and unrefined coconut oils have some of the same effects. They can be used as body and hair cosmetics—especially for persistent skin problems. Men will be surprised to learn that they are even suitable as a substitute for shaving cream for sensitive skin. They can also be used as a toothpaste base, support weight loss (thermogenic), and reduce appetite. They contain saturated fatty acids, vitamins B, C, and E (which increase the absorption of other vitamins). They are also rich in lauric acid and iron. They also affect our well-being and have a positive effect on the heart.
Refined coconut oil – its advantage is its versatility; it has neither the taste nor the smell of coconut, making it suitable for all vegetable and meat dishes. It is more transparent than the virgin type. It has a longer shelf life and can also be fried or baked at higher temperatures; therefore, it is suitable for most dishes.
Versatility, i.e. a wide range of applications
Unrefined coconut oil – suitable for baking and frying dishes in oriental cuisine. It is rich in vitamins and minerals. It contains no artificial ingredients. It can also be used as a sunscreen and after-sun care product. It has more antioxidants than refined coconut oil. It also protects humans and animals from ticks. It has a wonderful smell and taste that makes even a trivial meal like French fries original.
In terms of health, unrefined oil is a better option than refined oil. It also has its own distinctive taste, smell, and texture. However, refined oil is cheaper. If you don't want coconut flavor in your food, it's best to opt for refined coconut oil, which is the best among all refined oils. Whichever oil you choose, it's worth consuming it in moderation every day. You can even spread it on bread. Our food will be even more delicious.
Before purchasing, consider what you need the oil for and your budget. It's worth buying it and adding it to your everyday essentials in the kitchen and bathroom. Thanks to it, your body will be in much better condition.
