An inconspicuous plant with enchanting, usually pink flowers has recently enjoyed great popularity in our country. Originally from Southern Europe, the plant grows naturally in the Mediterranean region. It has been valued for its health-promoting properties in its native lands for hundreds of years, but it has only recently been used in herbal teas.
Cistus – what it helps with
The health-promoting properties of rockrose are primarily due to compounds from the polyphenol group, mainly flavonoids, of which this plant contains exceptionally large quantities. In addition, rockrose infusion and dietary supplements contain proanthocyanidins, catechins, terpenes, and essential oils. The following purifying action is thus attributed to:
- anti-allergic – because the rockrose By helping to inhibit histamine secretion in the body, it can relieve unpleasant allergy symptoms such as a runny nose, conjunctivitis, and nasal congestion. Therefore, it is recommended to take it in this form, either in capsules or tea, during the pollen season of plants to which we are allergic.
- Cleansing – Drinking Purge regularly helps remove accumulated toxins, including heavy metals, from the body. Consumption is especially recommended for urban dwellers and smokers.
- Antiviral and antibacterial – Cistus strengthens the body's immunity and helps fight microbes and mycoses. It can also be used as an antibacterial mouthwash. It is helpful in fighting colds. In cosmetics, it is used in anti-dandruff preparations.
- Anti-acne – both internally in the form of a tea and applied externally – can be used as a tonic for facial cleansing. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of cistus help keep the skin clean and in good condition.
Does rockrose lower blood sugar?
Drinking cistus regularly can have an effect on lowering blood sugar levels and therefore helps with diseases such as diabetes, but it should be noted that it is not a cure.
How long can you drink cistus?
It should also be noted that the effect is not visible after a single infusion of this plant, but only if we drink it systematically or take supplements for at least a month. Cistus infusion is prepared by pouring hot, but not boiling, water over a teaspoon of dried leaves and letting it steep for up to 10 minutes. Cistus tea has a mild and delicate flavor, most comparable to that of linden.
Cistus - Contraindications
Cistus is a safe herb for children , pregnant women, and breastfeeding women, especially in tea form, and there are no contraindications to consumption. However, remember not to exceed the recommended dose for supplements; for tea, one to a maximum of two servings per day are sufficient.
Since detoxification has a positive effect on our body and long-term consumption in recommended doses is safe, it is worth including it in your diet on a permanent basis to support the proper functioning and cleansing of the body.
